Sandy lives in the south central part of the state in a rural area with husband, Glen.
Having painted a few years as a pastime that turned into a passion, she decided to seek out ways to improve. Since that time she has studied under some wonderful and notable artists that include Gay Faulkenberry, Ann Templeton, R. S. Riddick, Xiang Zhang, Timothy Tyler, Bill Garrison, Rick McClure, Dave Bates, Carolyn Anderson and Christine Verner.
She loves painting from life whether it be landscapes "en plein aire" or models or still lifes in the studio. There have been many painting trips with friends. In the Fall of 2006 she and a group traveled to Canyon de Chelly, camped in the canyon with a Navajo guide and painted for 3 days. She belongs to Outdoor Painters Society and goes to many of the paint outs. She also belongs to Oil Painters of America.
Oil is her first choice of medium because of the rich colors than can be achieved.
