An Oklahoma artist resides in a rural area overlooking the South Canandian river bottom in the south central part of the state.
Having painted a few years as a pastime that turned into a passion, she decided to seek out ways to improve. Since that time she has studied under some wonderful and notable artists that include Gay Faulkenberry, Ann Templeton, R. S. Riddick, Xiang Zhang, Timothy Tyler, Bill Garrison, Rick McClure, Dave Bates, Carolyn Anderson and Christine Verner.
She loves painting from life whether it be landscapes "en plein aire" or models or still lifes in the studio. There have been many painting trips with friends. In the Fall of 2006 she and a group traveled to Canyon de Chelly, camped in the canyon with a Navajo guide and painted for 3 days.
Oil is her choice of medium because of the rich colors that can be achieved. Sandy says color is both passionate and exciting.
